Add New Product

To create a new product in NetSuite, follow the steps below:

  • First, go to List -> Web Site -> Items -> New
  • You will then be presented with the following screen:

  • In this example, we will be creating a 'Non-Inventory - For Sale' item. For a list of different item types, please click here
  • You will then be presented with a new screen, allowing you to enter information about the product. NOTE: In order for your item to appear on the web site, there are certain fields that must be added. If they are not filled in, the item will not appear to customers. Below is a list of the required fields:
    • Item Name/Number
    • Item Base Price/Online Price
    • Tax Code
    • Site Category
    • Display in Web Store
  • Once all information about your product has been entered, click [Save]
  • Your product will now appear on the web store

Custom Fields

Custom fields allow you to display different information to the customer about the product you are adding. For example, if you wanted a new field that displayed a 'Coming Soon' date, it is possible to create it. Follow the steps below in order to create a new custom field. In this example, we will create a 'Coming Soon' date that we can display to customers.

  • Go to Customisation -> Lists, Records, & Fields -> Item Fields -> New
  • Once there, you will be able to enter in information about the custom field that you would like to make (See image below)

  • The field 'Type' is what kind of data this new field will hold. In this example, set the type to Date. For a full list of the different types of fields, please click here NOTE: Please ensure that 'Store value' is checked, otherwise, when you try to save an item that uses this new custom field, the value you enter will be discarded.
  • Use the Display tab to indicate, on the new item dashboard, where you want this new custom field to appear. (See image below)

  • Once completed, you then need to specify what form this custom field applies to (See image below)

  • Check which item type this custom field applies to, then click [Save]
