Setting up Promotions

To mark a product down for a promotion, find the product's Assembly/Bill of Materials item record, and click the pricing tab. Towards the bottom of this tab, you should see a table similar to the one on the right.

The three fields shown under Website Promotion contain promotion information.

  • Type of Promotion decides whether a percentage or flat value will be used.
  • Promotion Value holds the value. When using percentages, this is not the percentage reductions in the price, but the percentage the promotion represents. (eg. 75% of £10 will be £7.50, not £2.50)
  • Promotion Original Price holds the price prior to applying the promotion, found in the Online Price row. When the Promotion Value field is cleared, the promotion ends and the value of this field is returned to the Online Price row; updating this field is essentially updating the base price.

Also to note, editing this value will not update percentage calculations. To update the calculation, change either the promotion type or value.

When a promotion is active, a small rosette will appear in the corner of the product image in category and product pages. The original price will be displayed, crossed out next to the promotional price.
